About the Centre

The One Health Research Centre at the International Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IIAST) is dedicated to advancing integrated approaches to human, animal, and environmental health. Recognizing that the health of people, livestock, wildlife, and ecosystems are interconnected, the Centre fosters collaborative research, training, and policy translation to address pressing global challenges.

Vision

To be a leading hub for One Health research and innovation in South Asia, bridging science, policy, and practice to improve public health, food safety, and environmental sustainability.

Mission

Promote interdisciplinary research on zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and emerging health threats.
Strengthen capacity in molecular diagnostics, epidemiology, and sustainable farm management.
Translate scientific evidence into actionable policies for national and regional stakeholders.
Build international collaborations to tackle global health challenges through the One Health lens.

1. Zoonotic Diseases

Surveillance and risk assessment of pathogens transmitted between animals and humans.

2. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Monitoring antimicrobial use in livestock and evaluating resistance patterns.

3. Food Safety & Public Health

Ensuring safe food systems through evidence-based interventions.

4. Climate-Smart Agriculture

Developing sustainable livestock production systems that reduce emissions and improve resilience.

5. Gut Microbiota & Immunology

Exploring host–microbe interactions in native poultry breeds for disease resistance.

6. Policy & Outreach

Bridging scientific findings with policymakers, farmers, and communities.

MOU between TUFTS University, USA and IIAST, Rangpur

The International Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IIAST), Rangpur, Bangladesh and Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University (“Tufts”), USA hereby enter into this General Agreement to foster international cooperation in education and research. The agreement includes: Exchange of Student, Exchange of Teachers and Research Collaboration. The agreement is officially signed at the office of the Dean in USA. Prof. Dr. Joyce S. Knoll (Dean, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine of Tufts University, USA) and International Institute of Applied Science & Technology, Rangpur, Bangladesh singed.
